Parrot Ornament Wood Carvingsby ~greencheek

These two ornaments were commissions of two pets, a red fronted conure (left), and a Jenday conure (right). The top left picture shows them before painting, to give a better idea of the wood burned feather detail on them.
I carved them from basswood, then woodburned in feather details, and painted them in acrylics. I never measured them, but I believe they were about 5" long including the tail. The paint is deliberately applied in many very dilute washes, which allows the woodburning to show through to some extent which gives an interesting look.
